Added to the Events list:  The Wedgwood Memorial College now has details of 2010 workshops for adults. Workshops are residential and are held over several days (usually weekends) at the Wedgwood Memorial College, near Stoke-on-Trent. Running in 2010 are: Papermaking in the Garden; Lacemaking; Playing Saxophone; and Putting People in Paintings, among others. See the website for the full list, prices, and booking details.

Added to the Events list:  The Guild of St. George’s Campaign for Drawing is running a one-day workshop for adults, titled “Drawing, a Tool for Design”, on 24th March 2010 (10.30am to 4pm). The venue will be The Burslem School of Art, Stoke-on-Trent. The event is free, but is only open to… “advisory teachers, heads of Art & Design / Design & Technology in secondary schools, … artists and youth leaders and professionals who use drawing in their work/practice”. Stafford’s Rising Brook Writers group now has a page of over 40 oral history MP3s, recorded during 2009 for their forthcoming book and DVD on memories of seaside holidays. The book will be published in May 2010, with a launch event on 17th May at the Shire Hall Gallery. Forthcoming group events also include a Drama Day at the Gatehouse Theatre on 24th July 2010.

The UK Higher Education Academy invites students on art, design or media higher-education courses to enter this year’s essay competition and answer the question…

“Learning to live sustainably — how can your subject-area contribute?”

…in an essay of around 1,000 words. The winner will receive £250. All submissions that meet the criteria and make use of the guidance will be published on the HEA website. Deadline: 26th March 2010. Full details are here.
