Miss L. Miller writes from Holden Lane High School in Stoke-on-Trent. She is a teacher in the music department there — which is offering the BTEC Level 2 in Music from September 2010, instead of the traditional GCSE route. BTEC units include practical modules (such as “Making a Musical recording”, “DJ Techniques”, “Working in the Music industry”, “Professional Development in the Music Industry”), and as such the department is now looking for organisations to help with the teaching of these units and to provide true-life stories from the industry.
