An outdoor Art Market will be held on Saturday the 2nd July 2011 on Piccadilly in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, between 11am – 6pm. The Market is open to anyone who would like the opportunity to showcase and sell their creative work in the city centre. Job:   ‘If Wards Could Talk’ is a local community history project that requires a freelance Education Workshop Leader. You’ll devise and deliver a programme of five education workshops that reflect the stories and memories of former patients and staff in North Staffordshire. The project has been set up by the University Hospital of North Staffordshire to record medical history in the Potteries during a period of change. The main focus of the project is the response of individual people to the changing medical environment during the past half century. There is a fixed fee of £1,600 for the commission, and the closing date for applications is 3rd June 2011. A new regular Staffordshire Handmade and Vintage Fair is set to launch, appealing to the Etsy generation. This fair aims to mix contemporary crafts, art, vintage, and graduate work, all from the local area. If you want to know more about making beats, tracks and all sorts of music digitally then “just turn up” (Editor’s note: although if you’ve never been there before, get very clear directions because it can be a very difficult place to find for the first time).

Job:   The Dance Development Group for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (DDG) is looking for exceptional dance artists to join the team of artists involved in Get Dancing!, a Staffordshire wide project. The DDG is offering choreographic commissions to produce a range of performance-based dance projects in various locations across Staffordshire under the artistic direction of Filip Van Huffell, Artistic Director of Retina Dance Company. Working in one specified location in Staffordshire, dance artists will devise and produce a series of workshops over twelve weeks which will develop into five performance based projects starting in either September 2011 (Phase 1) or January 2012 (Phase 2). The production of live dance will culminate in a series of district dance events (Jan – July 2012) as well as the county showcase in July/August 2012. The performance-based projects will be supported by a range of outreach workshops which will engage with communities across Staffordshire and provide appropriate participation events which will recruit dancers for the project. Comics Launch Pad is a new and unique one-day event in Birmingham on 18th June 2011. It’s a one-day conference aimed at professionals, aspiring professionals and those with a serious interest in the business of making comics. A standard ticket is £45 (PayPal accepted).

BIAD in Birmingham, the largest art & design teaching and research university campus outside of London, is inviting applications for the Wheatley Bequest Fine Art Fellowship. This is… “directed at artists at the beginning of or at a critical point in their professional career”. Applicants should normally have a first degree and/or a postgraduate qualification in Fine Art. The Fellow will be provided with a studio in the School of Art in Birmingham city centre, and will have access to all of the facilities there. The fellowship lasts for 10 months, commencing in October 2011.
