National organisation TACS (Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society) and local creative Danny Callaghan have been recruiting local people for a unique “community research team” on local ceramic tiles. Those taking part will visit key collections, access unusual archive material and visit recognised — as well as forgotten — architectural ceramics located on buildings across Stoke-on-Trent. The team will also visit key resources and locations in Ironbridge and London. Participants will also look at present-day production in the city of Stoke-on-Trent. The research team will then share their findings at events in each of the city’s famous Six Towns, to inform the development of a new Potteries Tile Trail.

There are still a couple of places up for grabs but you need to be quick! This opportunity is valuable and places are offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. You will need to be available and commit to four day-long ‘study visits’ taking place over six weeks and starting next Wednesday 27th February at Gladstone Pottery Museum. The other study visit dates are Tuesday 12th March, Wednesday 27th March and Wednesday 10th April 2013. For more information and to express your interest, please contact Danny Callaghan at email: danny@mcardlecallaghan.com
