There is to be an open public meeting about the 2015 Stoke Pride event, which is now ‘under new management’, on 20th November 2014 in Burslem. An excellent set of pictures from the 2014 event can be found here.

The 2014 Newcastle Lantern Parade is on Saturday 13th December, and the organisers are seeking players of portable instruments and those who can contribute skills to the Lantern Band.

Fusion Performance Arts are now providing drama classes at The Foxlowe Arts Centre, in Leek. Classes are open to students up to 18 years and take place from 2.30pm-4pm on Saturdays. A Stoke-on-Trent bid has made it to the finals of this year’s Big Lottery People’s Millions Competition. There will be a one-day public vote toward the end of November 2014, and members of the public can cast their vote from 9am in the morning to 12 midnight. Calls and texts to vote will cost 15p, via a phone number to be revealed on the 24th. The Friends of the Potteries Museums & Art Gallery hope to win £30,000 of Lottery funds for Infusion, which would bring professional artists to work with groups of children and young people to create high quality artworks inspired by the Museum’s world collections. Google Street View has just released the ‘Street View’ for the Peak District walking trails, made by carrying Google’s special 360-degree back-pack cameras along all the trails. This could be useful for photographers and film makers looking for local locations.
